Random House Launches Author Portal

New York-based publisher Random House has launched its own slick-looking web portal for authors. The site provides every RH author sales information and charts, royalty statements, rights information, and marketing guidance.

I expect this to be standard within a year or two, as publishing houses start harnessing web technology to put robust, real-time business information and analytical tools in the hands of authors. So far, I haven’t seen anybody else (even Amazon) offering such tools.
