Can You Own an E-Book?

When you buy a paper copy of Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone at the bookstore or online, it’s yours. Except for copyright limitations, you’re free to keep it, loan it, sell it, burn it, tear out pages, take pictures of it–most anything, really, except copy or plagiarize it. Some copyright systems (like Creative Commons) are even more liberal than that.
